so disappointing...was looking forward to something above the norm, especially considering the price. No salon chairs or whirlpool tubs for pedicure. My friend actually slid out of her chair. Water served in cheap plastic, throwaway glasses. Service was minimally polite and the technician was in a hurry to leave. (left the tissue on between my toes) I have had better treatments in those $40/ for mani/pedi places. My feet did not look much better than when i arrived and my tech actually took the polish charts away from me when i changed my mind on the colour. if you're looking for something special, this is not the place to go. A total rip off. Paying for location and "name".
At least twice a year, I'll book myself into Elmwood after work, before I commute back into the suburbs. It is so beautiful and relaxing at Elmwood. It really is like a respite from the noise and chaos of the City. What everyone says is true. It is definitely pricey, but sometimes you just have to indulge and pamper one's self. If you get a massage or a body treatment, then you can get free use of the whirlpool or steam room. Hey, that's one way to stretch your dollar. I find 95% of the staff very professional. However, there has been occasion, when I felt that the staff looked down on me, because I wasn't a regular. Maybe they knew I wasn't rich or daddy's little princess. Who cares. I still had a great time.
I went there with a few friends and they had the same cuts around their fingernails after the manicure. The pedicure had more polish on my skin than on my nails, and my facial started over 10 mins late with no apologies and ended at the time it was supposed to instead of ten mins later. My massage was terrible, she was obviously not an RMT. I wrote an email explaining politely all the things that went wrong, and got no reply. I even called, and no one ever called me back. I will never spend a cent there again, and advise all my friends against it since it was so disappointing, and then they were so unprofessional to not even respond to me.
